Beta-Adrenergic Blockers’ Supportive and Adverse Role in Hypertension: A Review of Three Generations

چکیده
ABSTRACT Hypertension causes significant mortality and morbidity around the world. The β-adrenergic blockers are one of most commonly prescribed hypertension medications. Several with different pharmacological qualities have been developed, which may be grouped into three generations based on differences in properties. In this narrative review, we addressed evidence-based literature about role various types β-blockers related adverse drug reactions (ADRs) hypertension. PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, MEDLINE used for articles search. title was examined first, followed by abstract, then entire study. We concluded that first-generation non-selective as antihypertensive however, not recommended diabetic, asthmatic, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. second-generation β1 receptor-selective effective option treatment hypertension, a lower risk effects associated antagonism β2-receptor. Third-generation showed improved patients compared to previous two generations. This class (labetalol, carvedilol, nebivolol) has vasodilatory abilities an extra beneficial influence fewer ADRs. However, effectiveness benefit first‐line therapy is still controversial. As result, further accurate screenings, well large randomized control clinical trials (RCTs), needed investigate all Keywords: Hypertension; Beta-Adrenergic Blockers; Blood Pressure; Literature Review.

Adverse effects of beta-adrenergic receptor blocking drugs can be divided into two categories: 1) those that result from known pharmacological consequences of beta-adrenergic receptor blockade; and 2) other reactions that do not appear to result from beta-adrenergic receptor blockade. Adverse effects of the first type include bronchospasm, heart failure, prolonged hypoglycemia, bradycardia, hea...

β-adrenergic receptor blockade has been demonstrated to benefit individuals with autism. Genetic studies have identified numerous factors linking β-adrenergic receptor blockade to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including βadrenergic receptor variants, human leukocyte antigen genes, apoptotics factor caspase-3, glycogen synthetase kinase-3β, and the reduced form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleo...
متن کاملTherapeutic Role of Beta-blockers in Hypertension: A Pragmatic Reappraisal
Beta-blockers have been used as first-time antihypertensives for decades and such use has also been recommended by guidelines. However, subsequently some meta-analyses questioned this status of beta-blockers by bringing to light their limitation in terms of stroke prevention and their metabolic sideeffects. Following this, several major international hypertension guidelines have removed beta-bl...
متن کاملBeta-blockers for hypertension
BACKGROUND Beta-blockers refer to a mixed group of drugs with diverse pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties. They have shown long-term beneficial effects on mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) when used in people with heart failure or acute myocardial infarction. Beta-blockers were thought to have similar beneficial effects when used as first-line therapy for hypertension. Howev...
